The Hangover Part III

The trick to enjoying "The Hangover Part III" is to lower your expectations before going to see it.

Apparently, I didn't lower them far enough.

The movie isn't very funny and it doesn't really try to be.  I never laughed out loud once.  I did a couple of courtesy laughs although I'm not sure why.

The movie is a mess as it tries to tie together the first two Hangovers and somehow make sense of a third.  The void of laughs is filled with several murders and reheated gags that fall flat.  And for some reason, Mr. Chow is given a very prominent role.  Mr. Chow is only funny in small doses.  John Goodman makes an appearance in this film but does little for it.  This movie makes "Hangover 2" feel like an Oscar winner.

I'd say skip this movie unless you come across it for a $1 somewhere.  Then, rent it so you can complete the trilogy and you can bring some closure to your life.

The Hangover Part III

2 out of 5 stars

No popcorn, no pop, no treats whatsoever.  And no, this did not play into my feelings for this movie.

Random Thursday

*The Stanley Cup Playoffs are pretty much the greatest thing on television.

*Speaking of that, how relieved was that ref last night when the Chicago won in overtime?  If the Blackhawks lose that game, he's the most hated person in Chicago since Steve Bartman.

*Good to see Tom Cruise, David Beckham and Justin Bieber at the Kings game on Tuesday night.  And Posh Spice.  I wonder if my buddy Tom Arnold was in attendance?

*In Grand Forks Class D Slowpitch Softball, Rain Man is leading his team with a .572 batting average.

*I've been on a real lemonade rampage the last few weeks.

*Reggie Tales shout out to Todd in Stephen.  Thanks for letting us use your grill on Saturday.

*I have a backlog of movies I need to see which should culminate with "The Intern" in a few weeks.  I haven't seen "The Great Gatsby" yet, but Red Sox Daughter gives it high marks.

*The Minnesota Twins are who we thought they were.  Bad.

*Is bingo a sport?

*I mowed my lawn for the first time yesterday.  I might have to mow it again today.

*Reggie Tales shout out to Summer Sidekick.  He met me early this morning at Menards while most of you were probably sleeping (8:30.)  He helped me pick out siding for what I'm calling the "Garage Project."

*Full disclosure:  I never watched the finale of "The Office," which is crazy since it was one of my all time favorites until about two years ago.  Then it got real bad.

*Miami Heat fans are annoying and look like plastic.  At least the ones seated court side.

*The early returns on "Hangover 3" are not favorable.  I am undeterred.  I will see this through.

Oh, Deer

I came upon this scene recently in the parking lot of a local eatery.  It's a deer sitting in the passenger seat of a pickup.  With his/her seat belt on.  Actually, the seat was reclined and the deer was staring straight up.  He seemed content.  But it really did frighten me.

*I don't think people should be able to throw cigarette butts out the windows of their cars.  It's littering and it's dangerous.  Why is this allowed?

*Interesting fact:  The Minnesota Twins have played 37 games this year and have been the Las Vegas favorite in only three of those games.

*Justin Morneau is starting to hit the ball a little bit.  I wonder if we should trade him before the deadline?

*The Breakfast Club is still a Top 10 movie.

*Gas is over $4 a gallon in Grand Forks.  It doesn't even seem possible.

*When is the Kegs going to open?

*Reggie Tales shout out to the GFC Girls Tennis team as they embark upon the East Regionals.  Good luck and have fun!

*Happy belated birthday to Out of Work Hockey Guy!

*Speaking of hockey, don't look now but the L.A. Kings are starting to play like they did a year ago.  And we all know how that ended.

Russian Youth Hockey Fight

This Russian youth hockey brawl has been floating around the last couple of days.  Thank you Internets!  It's mind boggling, but I'm guessing there must be some history and bad blood between these two teams.  Although, I'm not sure how much history there could be considering they appear to be about ten years old.

The Russian rap music gives it a real gangster, depressing type feel.  They should have gone with Scissor Sisters.  Summer Sidekick says they are a hockey arena favorite all around the world.

Looks like the Cold War isn't over in Russia... (wait for laughter.)... Enjoy!

*Major League Baseball has once again proven how horrible their umpires are.  Embarrassing.  Umps in the Cleveland and Oakland game last night used video replay and still screwed it up.  Absolutely no surprise that Angel Hernandez was involved.  He is one of the top five worst umpires in all of baseball.

*I will be going to see the Great Gatsby in the near future.  To be honest, I don't even know if Gatsby was a real person or not.

*Gotta love the Los Angeles Kings.  A bad team would have packed it in after giving up a late tying goal.  But not the defending Stanley Cup Champions.  They came out and won it in overtime.  I wonder if the Wild would have even come out for the overtime.

*Reggie Tales shout out to Charles Ramsey in Cleveland.

*If anyone sees my dad, will you tell him to answer his cell phone.  At this point, I feel like I'd have a better chance of contacting him by yelling out my front door.

*Special congratulations to Red Sox Daughter, who is capping off a pretty good senior year at Grand Forks Central by delivering a speech at her Graduation!  Your dad and Reggie Tales Nation are very proud of you!

*The Stanley Cup made an appearance on the Dan Patrick Show this morning.  And so did Phil, the keeper of the Cup.  And yes, he had his white gloves on.  It was awesome.  The best part was when Dan asked if he could lift it over his head and Phil said, "When you win it."  It's been too long since the Cup came to Grand Forks.

*By the way, the Stanley Cup Playoffs are pretty much the best thing ever.

*And what's the deal with fancy jeans?  You know the ones.  They have lots of bedazzling on the back pockets.  And almost everyone is wearing them.

*Rochester, MN got a foot of snow this morning.  And it's May 2nd.  Bro #1 lives in Rochester.  Just sayin'.

*After 24 games last season, the Minnesota Twins had six wins.  This year they have 12.  If this team finishes at .500 it will be a minor miracle.

*Reggie Tales shout out to Mrs. Rain Man.  She puts up with a lot.
