Random Thursday on a Friday

*Oprah was snubbed?  Give me a break.  She was fine in The Butler.  Nothing more.

*The real snubbing was of Tom Hanks for Captain Phillips.

*For my money, Wolf of Wall Street is a little better than American Hustle.  But it isn't really the kind of movie that the Academy clings to.  12 Years a Slave will be your winner for Best Picture.

*In Mike Zimmer the Vikings have hired the exact opposite of Leslie Frazier.  Which means he will actually display a pulse on the sidelines.  And I think that's what players want to see.  Frazier never spoke or showed emotion.  Never said a word to the refs, players or other coaches.

*The Vikings defense will be better by default.  The biggest question mark will be the draft and free agency.  They need a quarterback.

*If you missed it yesterday, Dan Patrick had a great take on the hypocrisy that is the NCAA.  What a sham that organization has proven itself to be over and over again

*Both Red Sox Daughter and Rain Man gave Lone Survivor very high ratings.

*Reggie Tales shout out to Dale in East Grand Forks.

*Duck Dynasty is back and better than ever.

*One thing that keeps me awake at night is wondering why the Vikings ever signed Josh Freeman.  Then, only allowed him to play in one game in which he was woefully unprepared.  If he was so awful, why did they sign him?  It's their job to evaluate talent.  I'm concerned they don't know what they are doing..

Random Thursday

*I hear there is a Paul Blart, Mall Cop sequel in the making.  Haven't we been subjected to enough?

*To me, it seems like there are a lot of shows on TV about towing.

*Jack Morris deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.  The process is ridiculous.

*Maybe if we all ignored Dennis Rodman he would just go away.

*A sequel that I would like to see is MacGruber.  Will Forte says its been written and he's waiting for the movie to be made.

*West Fargo will soon be getting a Spicy Pie.  That will be the third in the FM area.  I'm still holding out hope for one in Grand Forks.

*If the University of North Dakota can get back to running the ball and play strong defense, I think they can quickly contend in the Big Sky.  And I think under Bubba they will get back to that.

*Reggie tales shout out to Riley in Rochester.

Random Thursday

*There are 5,500 tickets remaining for the Packers playoff game with San Francisco.  I find that astonishing.

*A seven year deal for Jay Cutler with the Bears.  Wow.  He won't see the end of that contract.

*Speaking of the Bears, ex-coach Lovie Smith is now the new Tampa Bay coach.  Let's face it, there just isn't any good available coaches out there.

*Which means the Vikings are in trouble.  It was obvious they had to make a change but now what?  I really don't care for any of the names I've heard associated with this opening.

*The Winter Classic yesterday in Ann Arbor was a classic.  Great game in front of 106,000 people at Michigan Stadium.

*I've seen a handful of movies in the last couple of weeks:

*Anchorman 2:  It was slightly funnier than I thought it would be.  It might have been a little too long with the obligatory fight scene at the end dragging on.  I'd give it a 2.5 out of 5.

*Saving Mr. Banks:  Great movie.  Tom Hanks is magnificent in the role of Walt Disney.  Lots of great actors filling in some smaller spots in this film.  A very good behind the scenes look at the story behind the making of Mary Poppins.  4 out of 5.

*American Hustle:  A very unique and interesting movie.  I liked it a lot.  This is not your normal movie.  If you're waiting for explosions and car crashes, this film is not for you.  If you like tons of dialogue and witty 70s humor you're in luck.  Can't wait to see it again.  4 out of 5.

*Bonus movie:  Finally got around to seeing This is the End.  Great movie.  Very funny.  Movie stars starring as themselves as they face the Apocolypse.  James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride among others.  A below the radar movie that didn't create a lot of buzz at the box office.  Non stop laughs.  4 out of 5.

*-30 this morning in Grand Forks.  It really doesn't make sense.

*I do want to see Wolf of Wall Street but I'm not sure when I have three hours to dedicate to it.

* Reggie Tales shout out to Thomas in Rochester.

*Doug, if I need to mail something to you, do I just send it to Zorbaz in Brainerd?
